Dear Marilyn, It has been 1 month and 10 days since our wedding day and so far so good – blissful in fact. We wanted to express our thanks to you for all you did for us on our special day.
In planning a wedding I didn’t really know where to start, the first place I thought to look was the internet and I came across a site for celebrants – there were literally 100’s. I didn’t really have a plan of attack in choosing one so I read a little about a few on the site and sent off enquiries to them. Out of the half that decided to respond, I got a few that were very pushy and a few that didn’t have much experience, and then I heard from you. From the beginning you came across as being there for US on OUR day – not for the JOB. Out of all the little and big things you have to do to plan a wedding you lose sight of what it is your doing it all for and you got us excited and brought us back to that meaning. You discussed with us what we wanted to do, where it was to be held, gave us some suggestions of different things we could do to make it more memorable not only to us but to our guests also – and this was from the first phone call.
It was fun and light-hearted in some parts, touching and meaningful in others – it was perfect.

"Sarah and I organized our wedding in almost one month, as I was coming from abroad we had to make a lot of decisions in a little time. While we were surfing the net we bumped into the Marry Me Marilyn web site. We went through many websites until we came across yours and were captivated initially by your spiritual style of ceremony and the fact you were a resource of information and suitable locations. When we came up with the idea of getting married in a Helicopter, you were as excited as we were – why not get married 5000 feet over Main Beach at 200KMPH on a glorious Gold Coast Day! A SPECIAL THANK YOU - We chose Marilyn as our celebrant after briefly looking on the internet for a suitable person to marry us on 3rd September 2010. Our choice to go with her was initially based on her website, she seemed lovely even from her photos and we liked that she offered different types of ceremonies including sand ceremonies, which we didn't really know anything about but liked the idea of. We had a rough idea of what we wanted and we certainly didn't want a "traditional" wedding, we wanted to have vows which reflected our personalities and desires and to leave the guests inspired (not bored! Like so many weddings can leave you feeling). We met with Marilyn at her home, with our children after a morning at the beach and she was so welcoming to all of us, she even let our children have a swim in her pool so we could get along with business and they could have fun!! We discussed what we wanted, Marilyn told us what she offered and gave us access to her website which we found to be extremely helpful with an abundance of resources and links which we used entirely to plan our ceremony. Marilyn was always there to help and to answer questions when we got confused or stressed! We found her to be professional, down to earth, very experienced and above all a beautiful person who obviously gets a lot of pleasure from her work. The ceremony was perfect, all thanks to Marilyn, and the guests were so impressed with the sand ceremony and the fact that we included our two boys aged 4 and 9 which we originally hadn't thought was really possible beyond the fact that one was the ring bearer and the other was a groomsman! Marilyn suggested ideas and the resources helped to tie everything together so that we were uniting not only as a couple but as a family unit. It was a beautiful, unforgettable and absolutely perfect ceremony, thank you so so so very much Marilyn, without you it would have been virtually impossible and I know it would not have been any where near as memorable for us and our guests! We met Marilyn by serendipity when an email from her spontaneously arrived in my Inbox, before Gordon and I had even set a date. A couple of months later, though, we decided it was ‘time’, and from there, we were in a whirlwind developing the Ceremony, progressing through the legals and just ‘the overall’ of how a Marriage Ceremony falls into place. Marilyn helped me every step of the way with the vision Gordon and I had for the Wedding – especially with the writing of the Ceremony, which was extremely important to us. We live in Brisbane and decided to get married on the Gold Coast. It was easiest for us to contact celebrants via email. Marilyn was the only one who called to discuss our wedding plans and seemed just as enthusiastic and interested in our day as we were. Even on the phone, before meeting in person, she had suggestions regarding our day and made us feel at ease. A simple, no fuss ceremony is what we had wished for and Marilyn was very helpful with various ideas - some of which we didn't even consider before our first meeting. My husband Nick and I can't tell you the amount of times we have told people, "hiring Marilyn as our celebrant from NZ was the best money we spent on our wedding...full stop!" By chance we stumbled across Marilyn on Google and never looked back. I cant say that we were overly demanding about our ceremony, but we certainly knew what we didn't want! Trying to sort everything out from a different country was far more challenging than we expected. Thank God for the internet,our record of communication with Marilyn must read like a novel, but yet Marilyn never tired of our excuses for not getting back to her in time, was always patient, professional and diligent, and helped organise and remind us of very important things that we might otherwise have forgotten or overlooked.
And finally....we arrived! After months of helpful emails at no extra expense, we met Marilyn who was of course the lovely lady just as much in person who had helped us through all the snags (no matter how hard you try they always happen) of our planning.
