Q. Should younger members of the family be included in giving a reading?
A. Younger members can participate if they are comfortable with the idea. I will be there to make sure that their contribution is supported. Sub ceremonies are often the best way to incorporate younger family members. Sometimes, two younger people will do a joint reading or joint tribute.
Q. Will my celebrant include alternative spiritual content in the funeral service if that’s what our family wants?
A. I will be more than happy to include alternative spiritual, sacred and conscious content exactly what the loved one and the family want. It is crucial to me to highlight respect and honour the spiritual beliefs of your loved one.
Q. Is it possible to include culturally and spiritually appropriate symbols, rituals, music or readings in the funeral service?
A. Culturally and Spiritually appropriate rituals are more than appropriate within the restrictions of the chapel. I will guide you through this aspect. I have traveled the world and encountered a vast array of different religions, cultures and traditions as well as study them at university. I can integrate their special ceremonial styles or elements of their ritual into the ceremony we design together.
Q. Will the celebrant help us with the design of a Program for the mourners attending the service?
A. Generally the family prepares and prints the Order of Service or Funeral Program. I will be happy to advise with the preparation.
Call me on 0413 344 134 for information and to see if I have availability on your ceremony date. I offer, at no cost, an obligation-free meeting at my home, your home or a venue of your choice to discuss your vision for your perfect day. You can also email me or use the Contact Me page.
What Do We Do?
Q. How long does a typical funeral ceremony usually last?
A. About 20 to 30 minutes but if there are a number of eulogies, the funeral director can book the chapel for a longer period.
Q. Can I choose my own celebrant or do I have to use the celebrant recommended by the funeral director?
A. You may choose your own celebrant and inform your funeral director who that is to be. This is especially important if you have alternative spiritual ideas and beliefs. by choosing your own celebrant you ensure that the person will truly relate to your beliefs and perform the most appropriate and beautiful service for you. You are not obliged to use the celebrant recommended by the funeral director.
Q. Who pays the funeral celebrant?
A. If you choose your own celebrant you pay them directly. However,if the celebrant is arranged by the funeral director then her fee is paid by them.
Q. Will you visit me in my home to discuss the content of the funeral service?
A. I will visit you in your home or if you prefer we can meet at my home to discuss the funeral service.
Q. Will you help us with the choice of readings and music for the service?
A. I will have many resources to reflect your alternative beliefs and will be able to suggest sub-ceremonies, readings and music. I can make recommendations when we meet to plan the service.
Q. Will you write the eulogy if we give you the information?
A. When we meet to plan the funeral, we can discuss your relative’s life and I can express their personality, beliefs, and capture their essenceand spiritual beliefs in a finely crafted eulogy. I can create beautiful and meaningful sub ceremonies to reflect the persons alternative spiritual path in life.
Q. Is it possible for us to have a PowerPoint presentation about the life of our relative?
A. Many crematoria chapels have facilities for PowerPoint. Tell your funeral director if you want to be able to have this.
Q. Is it appropriate for family members or friends to give a eulogy or a reading or take part in a sub ceremony?
A. I encourage family members or friends to participate i as it makes it more personal and reflects their spiritual path. I can advise and guide you of the best way to incorporate this into the service.
